Cuban translators and interpreters may be licensed to work as self-employed

Cuban translators and interpreters will now be able to work officially as self-employed workers thanks to the entry into force last week of guidelines that “extend these activities to private management and guarantee their quality,” the official Granma paper verified this Thursday.

For this factor, the Cuban foreign minister summoned those interested in offering private translation and analysis services to take annual evaluations for their certification in the English, French and Portuguese, Italian, Russian and German languages, the publication stated.

The general director of the Translators and Interpreters Services (ESTI), Otto Vaillant, estimated by Granma, revealed that these evaluations will be brought out next January 1-31
